CCPR Computing

This. is. CCPR.

From UCLA IT Services:

“Phish of the Day” describes phishing that happens at UCLA. It shows the illegitimate and purposeful attempts to engage in malicious social engineering.

Be on the lookout for phishing attempts in your email, examples are posted here: http://www.itsecurity.ucla.edu/phishing.php

All Students, faculty and staff can now protect their personal laptops with FrontDoorSoftware Laptop Loss & Recovery FREE.
Installations include laptop registration, new talk feature, and 4 years of software tracking service.

CCPR can assist in the installation of this tracking software on your machine if needed. During registration be sure to use your university email address (@ucla.edu) in order to obtain the 4 year free license. More information and package downloads for Windows/OSX can be found here:

Always wondered where the first message on the Internet was sent from? Well…it was right here at UCLA! The first message on the ARPANET was sent by UCLA student programmer Charley Kline, at 10:30 p.m, on October 29, 1969 from Boelter Hall 3420.

42 years later this site is being designated as an Internet Heritage Site. Grand opening information can be found here: http://internethistory.ucla.edu/p/grand-opening.html

To appease your inner nerd, more information about ARPANET and the beginning of the Internet can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET
