Grand Opening – Kleinrock Internet Heritage Site and Archive
Always wondered where the first message on the Internet was sent from? Well…it was right here at UCLA! The first message on the ARPANET was sent by UCLA student programmer Charley Kline, at 10:30 p.m, on October 29, 1969 from Boelter Hall 3420.
42 years later this site is being designated as an Internet Heritage Site. Grand opening information can be found here: http://internethistory.ucla.edu/p/grand-opening.html
To appease your inner nerd, more information about ARPANET and the beginning of the Internet can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET
